Queerskins: ARK

A narrative virtual reality experience centered around an
interactive volumetrically captured dance sequence.

Created by Illya Szilak & Cyril Tsiboulski in collaboration with Brandon Powers
Co-Produced by Cloudred & Intel Studios

Queerskins: ARK, the second episode in the Peabody Award-winning Queerskins virtual reality saga, harnesses Intel Studio's volumetric video technology and spatial sound, to create an interactive movement-based language. Reading a diary left behind by her gay son lost to AIDS, a devout Catholic mother finds away to transcend her self and her grief by imagining him alive and in love. Entering her imagination, you gain the freedom to move and, in the pivotal scene, you help co-create an intimate dance between the lovers through your body position and gestures.

Choreographed in segments that "jump through the journal pages" of Sebastian’s diary, the dance tells the story of his relationship with his boyfriend, Alex. The dance, recorded using volumetric capture, changes depending on how the visitor moves through the space, thus creating a unique experience for each visitor.

Queerskins: ARK is available in 6DoF PC VR via Viveport or in 360 film via Oculus TV.
